What we collect, why we collect it, and how to get it back or get rid of it.
Last updated September 2, 2026
What we collect
We collect what we need to answer you and to run your program, and not more than that. This policy sits alongside our Terms of Service, Billing Policy and Website Terms.
Information you give us
When you request a findability check or contact us, you provide your name, email address, phone number if you choose to share it, your business name and website, your city and state, what your business does, the competitors you name, and anything you write in the message field. If you become a client we also hold the business and contact details needed to run and bill the program.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours records standard technical information when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the site or search that referred you. Our CRM records when a visitor who has previously given us their details returns to the site, so that we can respond to inquiries in context.
Information about your business
Producing your benchmark involves collecting publicly available information about your business and the competitors you name - website content and structure, search visibility, business profile and map listings, reviews, citations and press. This is public information gathered from public sources.
How we use it
- To produce and send the benchmark or answer you asked for.
- To run, report on and improve your program if you become a client.
- To follow up on an inquiry, and to send you occasional email about our services. Every such email has an unsubscribe link that works.
- To operate and secure the website, including preventing spam and abuse of our forms.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of established service providers to run the business. They may process your information on our behalf and only for that purpose:
- Keap (Infusionsoft) - our CRM. Form submissions, contact records and email follow-up.
- Google reCAPTCHA - protects our forms from automated abuse. Google receives technical information about your visit for that purpose.
- Google Fonts - serves the typefaces the site uses. Your browser requests them from Google, which receives your IP address as part of that request.
- Cloudflare - hosts the website and routes email sent to our addresses.
- SEO and analytics tooling - used to produce your benchmark and run your program.
- Analytics and advertising platforms - Google and Meta receive information about your visit to this site so we can measure and target our own advertising, as described under Cookies and tracking.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
Cookies and tracking
We use Google Tag Manager to load the measurement and advertising tools below. Tag Manager itself does not set cookies or collect anything; it is the container the other tools run inside.
- Google Analytics - tells us which pages people read and which ones lead to a request. Sets first-party cookies.
- Google Ads and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) advertising - lets us measure which ads produce requests, and show ads to people who have visited this site. These are advertising cookies and they do follow you to other sites.
- Microsoft Clarity - records how visitors move through pages, including clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, so we can find what is confusing. Text you type into form fields is masked and is not captured.
- Our CRM - recognizes you as a returning contact.
- Google reCAPTCHA - tells people from bots on our forms.
To be plain about it: yes, this site runs advertising and behavioral-tracking cookies, and yes, we may show you ads after you visit. We do not sell your information to anyone.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers offer a Do Not Track or tracking-protection setting that stops most of the above. The site works without them, though the forms may be harder to submit if reCAPTCHA is blocked. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on, and adjust ad personalization in your Google and Meta account settings.
Your choices
Email [email protected] and we will:
- tell you what we hold about you,
- correct anything that is wrong,
- delete it, unless we are required to keep it for tax or legal reasons,
- or stop emailing you, which you can also do from the unsubscribe link in any email.
We do not require an account or a form for this. Ask and we will do it.
Retention and security
We keep inquiry records for as long as they are useful and client records for as long as the law requires after a program ends. Beyond that we delete them.
The site is served over HTTPS, and access to client records is limited to the people who need it to do the work. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we will not pretend otherwise, but we take reasonable care and we do not keep information we do not need.
Other sites
Our site and your benchmark may link to sites we do not run. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information, and their policies apply once you leave ours.
Children
This is a service sold to businesses. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
California and other state rights
Residents of California and of other states with comparable privacy laws have the right to know what personal information we hold, to have it deleted, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for exercising those rights. California residents may also ask what personal information we have disclosed for direct marketing purposes; our answer is none, because we do not do that.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be brought to the attention of current clients directly.
